WHAT IS FLOW?

The term Flow was coined by Positive Psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi in 1975 as a "mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity." Colloquially expressed as being ‘In the zone’ or ‘meditation in action’. We all thrive to lead with flow- which drives the ultimate level of performance as well as enjoyment.

I decided to call my business "Flow Leadership Consultancy" as it is very much aligned with my mission of happier, more productive employees, and it brings together all aspects of effective leadership:

Consultancy

•  Being internally purpose driven vs externally validation driven
•  Persevering and finding the growth sweet spot on a task that is
    challenging yet manageable
•  The focus on frequent feedback to nurture growth

Module 1- Introduction to Organizational Happiness

A deep dive, half-day immersion into understanding the Science of Psychological Safety and what can be done by the leader, HR, yourself and your peers to promote Psychological Safety in your organization

Psychological safety is defined as “Individual perception as to whether he or she is comfortable to show and employ his(her)self without fear of negative consequences to self-image, status, or career” (Kahn, 1990). At a team level it is defined as a “Shared belief held by members of a team that the team is safe for interpersonal risk taking” (Edmonson, 1999). Psychological safety is about bringing your whole self to work, speaking up, sharing your views and being fully engaged. In a study conducted by Google in 2014, it was found to be the #1 determinant of High Performance Organizations, a prerequisite of all other criteria. During this course, I will review what Psychological Safety is, its importance for team performance and work with you to enhance the status of Psychological Safety in your team.

I have recently completed my thesis on the subject and constructed a tool to help bring these learnings to life.
